The ABC summer cop drama "Rookie Blue" has been dubbed "Grey’s Anatomy with Guns." Not to sell either series short, but it’s kind of true. Still, there are worse shows to be compared to, right?

The series takes the genre elements of a cop show with the focus being on the five inexperienced rookies much in the same way "Grey’s" started on the first day of a group of inexperienced doctors. Besides the usual cases that come their way -- some dramatic, some comedic -- the emphasis also evenly falls on the romantic lives of our attractive, 20-something regulars.

The show doesn’t really break any new ground but the main actors -- Missy Peregrym, Gregory Smith, Travis Milne, Charlotte Sullivan and Enuka Okuma -- are appealing and bring both the naïve, wide-eyed characters into this tough world, and we’ll gladly go on their journeys as they live and love and learn on the job.

The first season DVD set comes just as the series’ second season kicks off for another summer. The extras on the DVD include an exclusive look at the new season of episodes as well as a Making Of featurette that includes interviews with cast and crew and much behind-the-scenes footage that makes you realize how much work goes into the show.

All thirteen episodes are on the first season set of four discs and, unless you’re just generally over the cop drama, you’ll want to check out "Rookie Blue."
