Beyond the Beat: DJ Chris Padilla’s Song Picks, Week of June 6
Well It’s summer in the city and I don’t know about you I am ready for the Beach
this week I have some great new tracks that will definitely get you up and on to the dance floor.
Heaven/DJ John Le Page featuring Debby Holiday
Let’s kick it off with a new version of one of my favorite dance anthems of the late ’90s, Sarah Washington’s "Heaven."
"Heaven" gets a 2010 make over with vocals by Debbie Holiday and mixed by John Le Page and Wayne G. Each mix brings some thing different to the table.
The Le page mix is a great peak or late-night, with sharp synths and a progressive house feel. Wayne G works great in tea set mode with a more groovy, HiNrg feel to it, which makes sure that "Heaven" is sure to be a major summer anthem .
Commander/Kelly Rowland and David Guetta/Ralphi Rosario mix
Ralphi Rosario.Ralphi’s mix takes this pop track and gives more of a bump and grind feel. Pulsating tribal beats and smooth synths will command your attention to the dance floor and have you raising you hands and singing along
Yesterday/Toni Braxton
Dj Paulo and Alain Jackinisky’s mix takes this R&B tune and weaves magic with their signature progressive House beats. Paired with Miss Braxton’s sultry vocals, this beatdown combines big room drama with sure-fire crowd pleasing dance grooves.
Fire With Fire/Scissor Sisters
This is the Scissor Sisters’ first track off their upcoming third LP, Night Work, out June 28th. Master mixer Peter Rauhofer has tackled "Fire with Fire," and the beatmaster converts a glam rock power ballad into a tech-House masterpiece.
His trademark dark and edgy synths create a theatrical feel. Paired with lead singer Shears’ vocals, this is sure to make be one of the "must-haves" on every DJ’s playlist .
Shoe Gazer Disco/Rich Morel
Anyone reading this site knows Blowoff, the bear-friendly parties. Multi-talented singer-songwriter Rich Morel is perhaps best known for his collaborations with House music pioneers Deep Dish, as well as his deep and progressive dance-rock remixing under the alias Pink Noise. And he’s one part of the DJ duo that bring you those fabulous Blowoff parties.
Morel returns with his new single "Shoe Gazer Disco," the first in a series of remixes from his studio album Death of a Paper Boy. Roberto Rodiguez’s mixture of smooth percussion and silky synths with Morel’s haunting vocals create a feeling as if you were floating on a cloud that is sure to please any House music aficionado and keep your dance floor moving and grooving.
Until next time, remember:
Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Love like you’ve never been hurt and live like it’s heaven on Earth."
