Brazil Hosts World's Largest Gay Pride Parade on June 10, 2012

S�o Paulo, Brazil - The Brazilian Tourism Board, Embratur will host the 16th annual S�o Paulo Gay Pride Parade on Sunday, June 10th, 2012, which is the world's largest gay pride parade.

With a recorded attendance of over 4 million people in 2011 and a parade route of 2.6 miles, this year's parade theme focuses on fighting homophobia and creating a more accepting society. Here are a few quick facts about the S�o Paulo Gay Pride Parade:

The Gay Pride Parade is organized by APOGLBT (Association of Gay Pride Parade, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender)

The Brazilian government began recognizing same-sex Civil Unions as of May 5, 2011

The parade is expecting approximately 25 trio eletricos (floats) representing NGOs, unions and the Brazilian government
